Thursday

Today has been a fairly quiet Thursday. Proton was running on time which was great! It gave us a chance to sit and chat with a couple from the South of England as well as the family from Reading. As we sat relaxing with coffees you couldn't help but look around the waiting room at all of the other patients sat there. It's a busy day here, with a few familiar faces there for treatment, some back for check up and many more who have the terrified look that all newbies seem to have! Despite this everyone seems to cheerful, chatting, laughing, I rarely see anyone looking downcast.
We are told that childhood cancer is rare but our life and the lives of many of the people in this room are ones where childhood cancer has become the norm. All we ever see is rare childhood cancers!

It's great that so many of these families and couples are happy to sit and chat with you, no matter where we come from or how old we are we all seem to have something in common as we walk different paths: the "big C".
We've heard many inspirational stories and been moved by many of the people we have met here. I'm sure we'll share many of these stories with you all when we return!

Josh lay very still for his treatment today so it didn't take to long, he is still feeling slightly sick and his back is painful but his temperature is remaining stable which is good. Compared to many here he is remarkably symptom free which is a great encouragement to all! He was delighted that he was rewarded with yet another toy today for lying still. (We may have enough to open our own toy shop when we get home!)

After proton Lonnie & Rachel went to Adventure Landing for a game of mini golf, Lonnie won (which he keeps gloating about!) but only because Rachel let him!
