Day two treatment

Wednesday's are always one of the best days of the week as the hospital runs "lunch bunch" upstairs, where all of the patients, families, staff and volunteers gather together for a free lunch! We enjoyed this and made some new friends!

Afterwards Josh had his second treatment, which was a bit shorter than the first one. The first treatment made Josh quite unwell over night, we are told this is a normal reaction to the radiation and we are hoping it won't happen again tonight.

Please see the pictures below that were taken whilst Josh was in the gantry (treatment room).

Josh lying on the bed waiting for them to position him

Pretending to be asleep!

Josh not looking so impressed as he is positioned!

Final checks

Josh being raised up on the magic floating bed!

Strapped in tightly!

X-ray machines that come out of the wall to check the exact positioning.

More x-rays

The machine that they put a special brass mold and compensator in that is shaped to the exact shape of Josh's tumor so that they can target the proton beams exactly.

The blankets placed on Josh's feet to help him "freeze like a statue"!

All ready for treatment to start!
