Family news

Sorry for the delay in updating the blog, we have had rather a busy few weeks!

Lonnie had his most recent check up this week at the QE hospital, and we are delighted to report that he is now officially in remission! We are awaiting his chest x ray and blood results at the moment but his consultant seemed very positive which is brilliant news! He will be monitored very closely for the next five years to ensure that he remains well but it appears we have overcome the biggest hurdle to get here!

Other exciting news is as many of you will know we recently gave birth to a beautiful little boy! We are all completely in love with him and think his arrival is the perfect end to the cancer treatment journey that we have been on over the past nine months.

We are all to aware that he has an increased risk of developing a tumour like his dad and brother but  we have spoken with many oncologists both here and abroad and feel that we understand the risks but we have confidence in a God who is far bigger than cancer. We know many disagree with us, and that is okay but as a family we are confident that everything is going to be okay! There is no way of knowing more details about this at the moment as much more research is needed into cancer genetics and potential risks.

As for Josh, there isn't much to report at the moment.
We are still awaiting decisions from the orthopaedic medical team which is frustrating. Josh is also on the waiting list for a repeat of the surgery he had previously to assess his bladder and kidneys, we are hoping the wait won't be too long, but as it involves him going to theatre on two consecutive days the delay is longer than other procedures. His next scan to check on his tumour isn't until the summer so we have a couple more months to wait to find out if is still stable. Unfortunately Josh hasn't been feeling as well as everyone has been hoping so has had to miss time off school again over the past half term and he has spent a number of days receiving respite care in the children's hospice. However his oncologist is investigating the cause of his pain and is hoping to see him attending school much more regularly very soon.
